Easy Ways to Prevent Wrinkles Starting Today
Y'all. Let's talk wrinkles. I am still young, yes. But wrinkles start showing up so early and you can prevent them. My facialist (not a word) told me that you can't ever start preventing wrinkles too soon. You can do all of these things and they WILL have positive effects and delay your wrinkles. Well, that was good enough for me. So here they are. Some things you can do starting right this second!
Wear sunscreen, duh.
This has been preached at us forever and do we listen? Not really. But we should! This is the number one way to prevent wrinkles. So put it on in the morning and reapply if you think about it. Wear sunscreen that includes SPF. This is what I do so I don't have to think about it! So much easier than layering the products on.
Sleep on your back
Every time I read this somewhere or see this recommended, I laugh. At the end of the day, there's nothing I want to do more than flop down on my pillow in my comfy bed face down and start snoozing. Who here is a 100% belly sleeper? I used to be and I couldn't sleep any other way. Then I got pregnant and that became increasingly more difficult with time. So I kind of trained myself to sleep on my back more and believe me, it wasn't fun at first. And I still reason with myself sometimes thinking "this kid may not sleep all night and I may be exhausted so I should probably just sleep on my stomach to get the best sleep." And sometimes I do just that. We're not perfect and this is probably the hardest one of them all. For me, at least.
But think about it, you are squishing your face for 6+ hours every single night. When your skin doesn't have so much elasticity anymore, it's not going to bounce back so easily. And the reduced oxygen to your skin doesn't allow it to regenerate like it needs to do every night. So give it a try. This may be one you say you just can't do, but it's at least worth a try!
SLEEP
Some of you are laughing at this one too. Like, duh, I know I need sleep. What do you think I am? A moron? No no no. But you can make a conscious effort to at least TRY to get more sleep. "Try" being the operative word here. I totally understand that maybe your kid doesn't sleep well or maybe you have finals this week or maybe you work late on weekends. But do you notice how your skin also looks tired after those long late nights? That's because they need help! They need that rest time to regenerate.
Moisturize twice a day
Since I've started doing this, I can't believe how much better my skin looks. I moisturize twice a day and I always feel like my face is smooth and hydrated
Drink lots of water
Going along with the step above, one of the best things you can do is hydrate from the inside! Stay hydrated because what we eat and drink literally makes up the cells in our bodies. I try to carry my water bottle around all the time so I can sty on top of it.
More Vitamin C
Whether it's eating or drinking, you need more vitamin C. Vitamin C is tightening and brightening. That's why my favorite moisturizer that I listed above uses Vitamin C in its formula! The nice part about getting more C in your diet is that you will see so many more benefits than just skin. Maybe you'll kick that cold a little faster than last time or maybe you won't get sick at all!
It's basically impossible to do all of those things, but we can try! It takes 14 days to form a habit. Take one item and commit to doing it for 14 days. Maybe you need to leave a post it note on your mirror or set an alarm reminder in your phone. Whatever work for you! Let's do it together. This week I'm going to be better at eating/drinking more vitamin C and keeping hydrated from the inside out. Let's do it!
XOXO,
Kait
